The workpiece for this CNC-DX3040 CNC Pipe End Face Milling Machine in the first photo is a piece of large diameter (Φ2000mm) tank. Its end face milling was just being done, and operator was doing clean work. In this section, let’s get some information on it.
1) Applied Workpieces: For those industries using volumes of pipes/ tubes/ tanks of various diameter from as small as Φ500mm to as large as Φ3,000mm ~Φ4,000mm, such as Pressure Vessel/ Chemical Plant/ LNG (Liquified Nature Gas) … These round shape workpieces usually need to have its rim polished before next step of process technology, which is especially applicable for using this CNC Pipe End Face Milling Machine;
2) Nowadays, in steel structure industry, besides traditional raw materials of H Beam/ I Beam/ BOX Beam, various pipe structures are also used, as was the case in the first photo. You can find a set of small gantry welding machine at left corner of the photo;
3) CNC control Structure Member Beam End Face Milling Machine is especially suitable for machining workpieces with its cross section out of straight side and right angle (square/ rectangular), and any “special” shape cross section working parts. Among these the most often seen is round shape (Tank/ Pipe/ Tube).
We have introduced what’s new and interesting functions brought with CNC compared with ordinary I Beam End Face Milling Machine, in the product sections of CNC-DX3530 and CNC-DX3535, please check. Here we make three complements:
a) This is considered out of convenience for the DX series CNC type machine to be applied worldwide without problem;
b) The default setting in CNC is metric system. When the machine used in those countries of English system, the changeover is within seconds with soft function keys of CNC operating interface;
a) This function is especially useful for the CNC model machine, which works on round shape workpieces, like the ones in the first and second photos;
b) It refers to the capability of CNC calculating speed ratio along X and Y axis in real time during end face milling, so that the synthetic liner speed on round trace is always constant, making best end face milling quality. The related tracing in CNC please see the third sketch;
a) Now, let’s turn our attention from CNC controller and machine itself, to the important and indispensable unit of hydraulic workpiece clamp. This is not unique to CNC machines;
b) Instead, all the Structure Member End Face Milling Machine with its vertical stroke 2,000mm and less (DX20xx/ DX15xx/ DX12xx…) should be equipped with such mechanisms, for the purpose of holding down workpiece firmly during end face milling operation;
c) The reason behind that is, workpieces end faced in these models usually do not have sufficient deadweight, and could not withstand the impact force generated from milling head and be kept at standstill. So, additional racks should be adopted for these CNC type machines;
d) Please check the attached 4th, 5th and 6th photo. Their design varies on specific type and size of workpieces in the machine. To make sure sufficient secure force, these workpiece brackets are driven with hydraulic cylinders;
e) As we can see from the photos, in practical application, the DX series Welding Structure Member Beam End Face Milling Machine itself just occupy land area of 3,000mm length (This is determined by horizontal face milling stroke of machine) by 2,000mm width (Width of machine base bed); While its workpiece racks usually take much larger area due to the long length of workpiece, in the form of several individual brackets.
