1) Model Feature: MP50 is the largest model in MP series Plate Butt Joint Welding Machine. It has up to 5,000mm available length of melt through welding seam for plate joint;
2) Function: In a nut shell, MP50 Plate Joint Weld Machine can joint any two pieces of metal plates with largest width of 5000mm, so that you can get much longer integral piece of metal plate than original thick plate from Steel Mill, which usually have length up to 15m;
3) Applicating Sites: In many large scale projects such as LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) tank/ Power Plant/ Oil Derrick/ Railway Water Conservancy Channel, you may need bigger and longer size of steel plates for raw materials from this MP50 Plate Flat Butt Welding Machine;
4) Or you can joint several pieces of narrower and or shorter left over cut off plates which seams useless if not turned into a larger one, with operation of MP50 Plate Butt Welding Joining Machine.
Being the biggest model with the longest working stroke in MP series Plate Butt Joint Welding Machine, MP50 has obvious longer and higher overall dimensions of main frame, as you can find from the first photo:
a) It has around 6.3m length of butt welding work table and gantry beam;
b) Gantry platform top surface has nearly 3.5m height after fully installation. So, a ladder is assembled at lateral side of the gantry platform;
a) Plate Thickness: With increasement of plate size, so is its thickness. Although in MP series Plate Butt Welding Joint Machine, all the models from MP20 to MP50 share the same range of metal plate thickness, usually metal plates for joint in MP50 plate Flat Butt Welding Machine has higher thickness;
b) Plate Beveling Required: As we know, without welding groove, the max. thickness for satisfactory fully penetration welding is 15mm. So, edge beveling process is pre-requisite prior to the melt through welding;

a) SAW Welding Flux Recycling Unit: As you can find from the 3rd photo, in MP50 (MP40/ MP45 also) Plate Joint Weld Machine, the grey color box body of SAW (Submerged arc welding) flux recycling unit is installed on the butt welding traveling carriage, instead of just put on the gantry platform;
b) What is the reason? Because for long stroke of 4m and above (MP40/ MP45/ MP50) plate Flat Butt Welding Machine, sometimes suction force is not enough for inhaling the intact flux back to the recycling body, suppose putting the recycling unit in stationary manner. So, we make it the shortest distance in the way of recycling unit integrated onto moving welding carriage;
a) Melt Thru Welding Current: The 4th photo records one of the workpiece samples in validating MP50 Plate Butt Joint Welding Machine. For successful melt through welding (Single side welding double side forming), key welding parameters were tried and recorded: For this joint plate of 10mm thickness, the corresponding welding current is 550A, and welding voltage is 32A;
b) SAW Welding Power Supply: In general, MP series plate Flat Butt Welding Machine is equipped with the same specification level of welding power supply (For both Submerged Arc Welding and CO2 GMAW): DC1000/ DC1250 for SAW, and 500A for CO2 GMAW with PHJ and ZHJ series H Beam Fabrication Machine;
a) Requirement: Wider metal plates before and after joint usually come with longer length;
b) To guarantee plate butt joint quality of these long workpieces, in MP series Plate Butt Joint Welding Machine, there are array of aligning rollers installed in vertical orientation and distributed in strictly linearity along input conveyor of the plate Flat Butt Welding Machine, which is used for aligning metal plates in the manner of hard stops;
c) This is especially helpful for larger models, including the largest one of MP50 Flat Butt Welding Machine.
