1) General Layout: The general arrangement on LHD Pipe Longitudinal Welding Machine at customer site is shown in the attached 3rd sketch. It works in the way of stationary workpiece, which is laid on a group of V-shape supporting rack, plus moving welding torch;
2) How to Perform Weld: The welding torch and its positioning carriage is installed on the box gantry beam of this Pipe Welding Equipment. During operation of the Pipe Back Welding Machine, the box gantry moves along the 15m long rails in welding speed, implementing CO2 back welding;
3) Welding Speed Control: Same as other types of automatic Welding Equipment, the welding speed of this Heavy duty Pipe Back Welding Machine, which is also the mechanical box gantry traveling speed, is controlled by means of VFD (Variable frequency drive) inverter, and displayed in digital display, on operating panel;
4) Welding Torch Position Management: The position control of welding torch is manipulated by means of its high precision cross slides, shown as below, and checked with laser generator: (Fig.3)

b) This welding swing unit is installed on the upper section of the welding torch carriage, shown as below: (Fig.5)
c) This welding swing unit controls swing range of the welding torch during operation, which equals to the welding seam width produced from the Pipe Back Welding Machine. This unit works in digital manner;
a) With welding mode of continuous CO2 adopted, the welding torch in this Pipe Longitudinal Seam Welding Machine should be equipped with water cooling system. The reason is, under the welding mode of continuous CO2 welding, welding torch will grow over heating after running certain period of time, which deteriorates its performance;
b) Water cooling unit is composed of specifically designed water cooling welding torch, corresponding cable line, and red color water tank, located on lateral frame of the Pipe Back Welding Machine: (Fig.6)
