Here we divide the Head and Tail Welding Positioner based on working motions degree of freedom, into three branches of:
1. Single Axis: Horizontal long length 0° ~ 360° revolve;
2. Double Axis: 0° ~ 360° horizontal revolve, together with: 0° ~ 360° rotate in the air, or elevation along support brackets, or lateral support brackets moving ability;
3. Three to four Axis: 0° ~ 360° revolve and 0° ~ 360° rotate, together with: elevation, or lateral brackets movement
1) Usage: Single axis head and tail welding equipment is applicable for fabricating on small to medium size cross section and length workpiece, with relative light weight. So, it is no need to raise workpiece, and no need to move lateral double columns during work;
2) Working Parts Secure: Both ends of working parts are joint with lateral sides of the Rotating Welding Table;
3) Single Degree of Freedom: During welding operation, the working parts and Rotating Welding Table revolve around the horizontal shaft in 0° ~ 360° scope, which is connected between both sides of the double columns.
1) As you can check from the right hand photos, the fixed height head and tail welding equipment can be either in the structure of splitting frame, or integral frame; The 0° ~ 360° revolve of Rotating Welding Table and workpiece can be either in motor drive, or manual turn;
2) Example 1: The white color integral structure head and tail Welding Positioner in the right upper photo is the overlapping equipment with Welding Fixture. The rotation of its Rotating Welding Table is pushed by hand, and locked in angular position by means of brakes. The workpiece is secured with groups of pliers;
3) Example 2: The light green color head and tail Welding Positioner in the right middle photo has splitting mechanical body. The revolve of working parts is driven with motor;
4) Example 3: As shown in the below photo, there is also a kind of non-mainstream single axis Double Column Welding Positioner, which has 2 sets of individually arranged conventional Rotating Welding Table. The 2 sets of welding positioners face to face with each other, with workpiece is jointed in horizontal position in between. The distance between the 2 sets of welding positioners can be moved at will, according to length of workpiece.
On the basis of 0° ~ 360° horizontal revolve, the 2nd degree of freedom can be:
1) Type 1: With Lifting Function: When cross section size of structural working parts grows larger, the Rotating Welding Table and working parts should have elevating function along support brackets;
2) Type 2: With Additional 0° ~ 360° Rotating: When welding points are distributed at different position of working parts, the additional 0° ~ 360° rotate can get ideal welding position for operator and welding effect;
3) Type 3: With Column Moving: Or, when length of working parts has relative wide range of variation, one of the upright columns or both columns should have ability of moving along rails, either with hand push, or in majority, under motor drive;
The left 3 photos show the above listed 3 types of double control axis in welding equipment:
a) For smaller size workpieces with lifting function, it is usually has splitting structure, as shown in the left top hand photo;
b) For larger and more complicated workpieces, usually there is a solid horizontal beam connected between both ends of the upright columns. The Rotating Welding Table is assembled onto top of this horizontal beam, and can be rotated 0° ~ 360°, as you can check from the middle one of left hand photos;
c) When the working parts grow higher and heavier, the Double Column Welding Positioner usually has moving side brackets, as shown in the left bottom photos. It is for working parts with wide range of length.
1) The elevating stroke of workpiece in the lefthand 3 photos are: 800mm, 3000mm, and 2500mm respectively;
2) The corresponding transmission are leadscrew, chains and sprocket;
3) The loading capacity of Rotating Welding Table are 1 ton, 8 ton, 10 ton respectively;
4) The workpieces applicable for the left hand 3 photos are: Big arm, hopper, chassis respectively.
1) 0° ~ 360° horizontal revolve --- Must;
2) 0° ~ 360° rotate at by turning angle --- Must;
3) Up and down movement --- Optional, for larger cross section size;
4) Leftward and rightward movement --- Optional, for longer length;
1) Usually these welding equipment are in large size with complicated structure, as heavy duty welding machinery. These are shown in the lefthand photos;
2) Applicable for large size, heavy weight, and complicated structure of working parts;
3) On the horizontal beam, there is piece of Rotating Welding Table, which can be turned 0°~360°;
4) Double adjustable welding speed: The 0°~360° revolving around horizontal axis, and 0°~360° rotation of Rotating Welding Table are all welding speed on working parts, which is controlled with A.C. inverter. Sometimes, in the strictest precision managing condition, revolve and rotate are driven with servo motors and controlled with servo drivers.
1. Where Used: This branch of welding equipment is majorly used in Construction Machinery, Vehicle, Civil Engineering, Municipal Engineering, and Engineering Machinery, for fabricating on various small to medium to large WIP (Work in process), and structural working members;
2. The related welding equipment: Welding fixture (Prerequisite equipment), Welding Manipulator (Column and Boom welding equipment), Welding Rotator (Welding Roller Bed), and Special Welding Machine, various welding modes power supply, etc..
