The vertical view on a set of MP35 Plate Butt Joint Welding Machine in the first photo gives typical working site of the equipment: The raw materials (Metal plates for joint) next to conveyor, and completed joint plate on the output conveyor.
1) Joint Welding Seam: You can find the welding seam formed on the joint plate at the right most of the first photo, and local amplification in the second photo. MP series plate Flat Butt Welding Machine adopts melt thru technology in its butt welding process, delivering high level of welding seam on both sides of the joint plate, with single side welding;
2) The attached 3rd photo shows arrangement of copper pad before its installation into the Plate Butt Welding Joint Machine. For successful completion of melt thru (Fully penetration welding) in Plate Butt Weld Machine, especially for medium and large size plates, copper pads and its water cooled unit are critical for finishing the job;
a) SAW Welding Flux: Before melt thru butt welding in the plate Flat Butt Welding Machine, a thin layer of welding flux will be deposited on the surface of copper pad;
b) Plates Clamp: And the two pieces of metal plates are pressed tightly on the copper pads, with another large amount of welding flux deposited on the welding seam, please check attached video and the attached 4th photo;
c) Melt-Thru Welding: The large current SAW (Submerged arc welding) and copper pads help making fully penetration welding seam coming into being in the Plate Butt Welding Joint Machine, attaining the purpose of melt thru;
a) In MP series Plate Butt Joint Welding Machine, the SAW butt welding has large current which generates fairly quantity of heat, and may have negative effect on the copper pads. Correspondingly, there are circulating water system for cooling these copper pads during work of the Plate Butt Welding Joining Machine;
b) As can be seen from the attached 3rd photo, operator was connecting these coppers pad with a blue color rubber hose. During large current SAW butt welding, cooling water run through this rubber hose, taking heat away from the copper pads of the Plate Butt Welding Joint Machine. A large water tank is located at function area of the Plate Butt Welding Joint Machine together with hydraulic pump system, completing the entire water cooling system for copper pads;
a) The copper pads are elevated integrally under motor drive;
b) It descends down during in feed and out send of the plates into and out of the Plate Butt Joint Welding Machine, and ascends up at the positioning of the plates, and then is pressed firmly against bottom surface of the welding seam;
c) Its stroke is controlled with photo-electric switch in the control system of Flat Butt Welding Machine.
The MP series Plate Butt Welding Joint Machine incorporates cutting and welding function into one equipment, and doubles productivity on plates joint by means of:
1) Flame Triple Cutting: Integrate beveling function by means of triple cutting torch, as shown in the 5th photo. Without it, beveling need to made with XBJ series Edge Milling Machine, or CNC-CG series Triple Plate Cutting Machine; Or, without beveling for making welding groove in the Plate Butt Welding Joint Machine, the max. thickness for butt welding is only 15mm, instead of 40mm for standard specification;
2) Remove the second welding step on the opposing side of the plates and hence dangerous and toilful work of metal plates flipping;
3) Remove carbon gouging job which is necessary before the second side welding;
In all, any 2 pieces of rough metal plates can be joint together with one time passing through the MP series Plate Butt Joint Welding Machine. This is similar to H Beam Assembly Welding Straightening Integral Machine, that one set of machine integrates several functions into one equipment.
